Alejandro Gutiérrez (Athoyo) is a Colombian Underwater Photographer. Always looking to learn and experiment with new creative methods, has focus his work around the fascinating marine world which enchanted him as a child. Since 2011 is living permanently on the beautiful island of Bonaire in the Dutch Caribbean where he has been able to blend successfully two of his passions, photography and the sea.
Despite the fact that is a professional diver, most of his work has been done while free-diving (holding his breath), he’s convinced that through this technique, the approach to ocean creatures becomes more natural and the interaction and communication with them goes deeper, allowing to capture special and unique moments underwater.
